ABOUT THE BAND

2015; Well we are still here, rebuilding did not go so well in 2014, but we still remain positive with a number of opportunities in the next couple of month. Craig Stevens took over the Baton in the latter part of last year and we look forward to working with Craig in the future.
2014 sets a new challenge with the need to rebuild after an unsettled period, but the future looks bright with a new MD and several new members --- watch this space.
2013, In the Championship for the second time following our success at Bedworth last year (2012) we were 9th out 0f 11 in the contest in March 2013 which means we stay in the top section for another year. We are based in Dudley in the West Midlands and our rehearsals are at a Church hall in Gornal near Dudley.
How did it all begin ------
Phoenix West Midlands Brass was formed in September 2000 and consists of members of all ages from all areas of the West Midlands. From the outset the band has prided itself on having a friendly atmosphere in and out of the bandroom which is reflected in the popularity of the band in the local community. Phoenix place a large emphasis on entertaining the local community and each year play a substantial amount of park and church concerts in Old Hill, Cradley Heath, West Bromwich, Blackheath and the surrounding areas. The last few years have seen the band spread its wings to play to audiences in Solihull, Willenhall, Birmingham and Stratford-Upon-Avon. Good causes are always supported by the band, and some of the most memorable events in their history have come at such functions. The band has regularly supported the Mayor of Sandwell's charity as well as being proud contributors to a number of Remembrance Day and St George's Day concerts each year. Over the years the band has played at a wide range of events supporting Wyre Forrest schools, the Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir, the Black Country Living Museum and has performed at a number of events with local singer songwriter Chris Eaton. The band have established their annual concert which takes place every Spring at Netherton Arts Centre and provides the band with a chance to entertain their loyal band of supporters and friends.
